Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BSO) has taken delivery of its fourth commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) from Ulstein within the past year, and the seventh wind service ship of Ulstein design in total.

The Windea Clarke has a hybrid battery propulsion system and is ‘ready’ to use methanol as fuel in the future. It has a 3d motion-compensated crane with a capacity of up to five tonnes, a height-adjustable boat-landing system, and a helideck for helicopters up to 8.6 tonnes.

There are 111 cabins in total including 90 cabins with windows for charterers’ offshore staff. Personnel will be able to use a height-adjustable walk-to-work gangway and an integrated elevator tower for safe transfer of both personnel and cargo.

The four recent deliveries all have the shipbuilder’s TWIN X-STERN® designed for good manoeuvrability, reduced motions, and good operational efficiency in challenging conditions.

BSO’s managing director, Matthias Müller, commented: “With Windea Clarke, we are completing a strategically important series of vessels that strengthens our ability to support offshore projects with reliable tonnage while significantly reducing the environmental footprint. It enables us to deliver efficient and scalable services across construction, commissioning and maintenance phases to the global offshore energy industry.”

The vessel is named after the American electrical engineer and academic, Edith Clarke, continuing the BSO tradition of honouring leading scientists. Other vessels in the series are the Windea Curie, Windia Clausius, and Windea Carnot.
