Two tugs for OSG

VT Halter Marine Inc. (VT Halter Marine), Pascagoula, a subsidiary of VT Systems Inc. (VT Systems), announced that it has signed a contract with subsidiaries of Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc. (OSG), headquartered at New York, to construct two 8,000 ATB tugs.

The tugs will be built over 16 months at VT Halter Marine’s Moss Point Marine shipyard with completion expected in the second and third quarters of 2011. The two tugs will have all the necessary capabilities to manage in full ocean service.
The tugs will be constructed to comply with the rules and regulations of the American Bureau of Shipping as well as all applicable International regulations. VT Halter Marine will apply construction techniques used for similar tugs previously built at VT Halter Marine’s shipyards.

Measuring 42.8 meters by 11.6 meters, these tugs will number among the twenty ATB tugs built by a VT Halter Marine facility. These state-of-the-art tugs will be used to perform articulated tug barge (ATB) services transporting refined petroleum products coastwise within the US.
