The systems will guarantee good manoeuvrability and provide the 101.25m-long US-flagged diesel-electric vessel with a maximum speed of 14 knots.
The vessel is owned and operated by the shipyard’s parent company, Otto Candies LLC. Vice Chairman Otto B. Candies III commented: “We have relied on Schottel products for many years. Several of our vessels are equipped with propulsion systems from Schottel, some even with the electric Combi Drive. As a result of the very good performance of the azimuth thrusters and the reduced service and maintenance efforts, we have once again decided in favour of Schottel’s Combi Drive.”

The US-flagged inspection, repair and maintenance (IMR) vessel, Paul Candies, built by Louisiana-based Candies Shipbuilders LLC, has three Schottel propulsion installations including two Combi Drives, two transverse thrusters and one retractable Rudderpropeller.
