The tenth and final 7,680dwt bulk carrier in the Labrax series has been launched and named at Royal T Shipyards, formerly Thecla Bodewes, in the Netherlands. Built for the Vertom group, a short-sea operator with more than a hundred vessels, the 118.6m-long Vertom Quina is powered by a diesel-electric system and ‘ready’ for alternative marine fuels in the future.

Royal T Shipyards’ CEO, Thecla Bodewes, said: “The launch of MV Vertom Quina is a truly special moment.  Not only does it reflect the strong and longstanding partnership between Royal T Shipyards and Vertom, but it also represents the tenth vessel in a series that embodies our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and high-quality craftsmanship. This milestone is a tribute to the dedication of everyone involved – from our engineers and welders to project leaders and partners.”

Final outfitting will now be undertaken at the shipyard in Kampen. The vessel will then proceed to Harlingen for sea trials and delivery before the end of the year.
