Supply of oil tanker and offshore plant

Samsung Heavy Industries has won the contract to supply five 100,000t-class shuttle tankers to Viken Shipping, a Norway-based firm.

The oil tankers are to transport the crude oil produced at an FPSO to an inland base. The special ships are equipped with an automatic satellite location maintenance device, which they needs in order to stay in the same location while loading crude oil from the FPSO. The shuttle tankers will be delivered from August 2012 to March 2013, and will be operated at Tupi, Brazil.
 

Offshore plant TLP, which has been ordered by a US firm, connects an offshore oil production facility to a deep-sea location that is 1,000 m deep using a special pipe with strong tensile force. Its resilience helps the oil production facility to immediately recover its original location, even when it moves from side to side.
