Second SOV launched and named at Damen shipyard

At the launch ceremony of the second SOV

The Bibby WaveMaster Horizon, a SOV 9020 design with DP2 and walk-to-work capabilities, will undertake maintenance work on two EnBW and Enbridge-owned wind farms in the German North Sea – Hohe See and Albatros – for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and EnBW when it is delivered later this year.
The Bibby Wavemaster Horizon is a sister vessel to Bibby Wavemaster 1 which has worked continuously in the offshore wind, oil and gas sectors since its delivery in October 2017. Construction of both vessels started at the same time, although Bibby Marine Services and Gamesa only confirmed the second deal at the end of 2017, at which time Damen was able to accelerate the construction process rapidly.
Damen sales manager, Arjen van Elk, commented: “This is one of the principal benefits of Damen’s philosophy of standardised shipbuilding. Building in series means that we are able to deliver reliable, proven ships in the fastest possible timeframes, at competitive prices.”

A second service operation vessel (SOV) for UK-based Bibby Marine Services, under construction at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania, has been launched and named.
