Sallaum commissions two PCTCs in China

Cyprus-based Sallaum Lines has taken delivery of two 7,400-CEU LNG dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu). The two new ships, Ocean Express and  Ocean Navigator take the company’s Ocean-Class fleet to five vessels.

The PCTCs have maximum vehicle height and width clearances of 5.4m and 13.5m respectively, enabling a wide range of vehicles including cars, buses, heavy commercial trucks, high-clearance SUVs, rolling machinery, and oversized project cargoes.

Ibrahim Sallaum, the shipping company founder, said: “Welcoming two additional vessels into our fleet on the same day is a milestone we are immensely proud of. The Ocean Class vessels reflect the resilience, vision, and values that have guided Sallaum Lines since its inception. They are a testament to our belief in building a company that is prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future.”

Sallaum Lines has a keen focus on the Far East-Europe trade, with eight sailings so far this year. It plans to launch a dedicated China-Europe service in 2027 and the double-delivery of the Ocean Express and the Ocean Navigator will strengthen the company’s strategy of more sailings on this route.

Sallaum Lines recently relocated its headquarters from Sarnen in Switzerland to Limassol in Cyprus explaining that the move would bring it closer to key European markets, regulatory frameworks, maritime stakeholders, and its expanding route network in the eastern Mediterranean.
