Antwerp-based RoRo operator, Sallaum Lines, has celebrated the arrival of its first of six LNG dual-fuel pure care and truck carriers (PCTC) in Europe. The debut of the 7,500-CEU Ocean Breeze was celebrated at the recently upgraded Sallaum Terminal where guests were shown round the new vessel which lay alongside.
The ship’s dual-fuel engines cut the emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and particulates by a significant margin compared with conventional machinery. Meanwhile an optimised hull form and various energy-saving devices generate additional fuel savings.
Natalie Sallaum, chief relationship officer at the shipowning company, said: “The Ocean Breeze is not just about capacity, but about shaping a cleaner, more resilient supply chain for the decades ahead. “Our customers demand scale, sustainability, and reliability: the Ocean Breeze proves we can deliver all three. More than a vessel, it represents a new chapter in automotive logistics, preparing us for the next wave of vehicle flows between Asia, Europe, and beyond.”
The recent EUR 20 million expansion at the Terminal has increased capacity from 10,000 to 17,000 CEU and enables four vessels to berth simultaneously rather than three.
