Safeen takes delivery of latest Sanmar tug

The Al Jimi 1 was recently delivered
The vessel joins two sisters delivered in 2017 – the Al Shaheed and Alhili 1. The tugs are of the Yenicay design, based on the Robert Allan Ltd Rascal 1800 type, and incorporate the latest technology. The vessels are deployed in both Musaffah Port and Zayed Port and have been suitably modified to meet the extreme local conditions.
The Yenicay tugs have a length of 18.7m and a breadth of 9.2m. They are powered by Caterpillar C32 main engines each developing 969 kW at 1,800 rpm which drive Veth VZ-900 azimuthing stern thrusters. The vessels have a bollard pull of 32 tonnes and a speed of about 12 knots.
Design of the tugs has been configured to provide high performance line and ship handling capabilities in smaller ports and harbours within the region. The upgraded sea water cooling and HVAC systems provide reliability and ensure crew comfort during the extremely high ambient air and sea water conditions prevailing during the summer months.
