Royal T Shipyards promotes electric Gadus bulkers

Netherlands-based Royal T Shipyard has delivered the first in a series of four zero-emission electric bulk carriers to Faroe Islands-based Navigare Shipping. Developed for owners operating in the 5,000-6,000dwt segment, the Gadus Battery Electric design is intended for zero-emission short-sea trades.

The first vessel, Hav Leiti, has a high-cubic hold, diesel-electric propulsion, and an electric self-discharging system. A multi-input shore-power transformer enables the vessel to work cargo using shore power, facilitating emission-free, low-noise cargo operations.

The Gadus design incorporates a Vessel Data Management System that collects and processes operational data from the ship’s navigation, propulsion, machinery, alarm, and automation systems. Shore-based dashboarding provides the owner and manager with access to operational data, thereby supporting managers in optimisation, performance analysis and effective maintenance planning.
