PSV to have a hybrid retrofit from Wärtsilä
The supply package will include an Energy Storage System, Energy Management System, transformer and drive, all mounted within a single container. The new equipment will be integrated with the existing Wärtsilä Power Distribution, Power Management and Integrated Automation systems and is due for delivery by the end of this year.
The 1,450-kW battery is expected to reduce exhaust emissions, noise and fuel consumption, realising cost savings of between 10% and 20%, Wärtsilä said in a statement. The battery will be capable of supplying electric power for navigation in and out of harbour while also providing hotel load electricity when docked. Battery power will also supplement existing propulsion systems to aid manoeuvrability when operating in DP mode at offshore platforms.
