Operation officially starts at Damen Shipyards Sharjah
Located in the Sharjah Hamriyah Free-zone, the new yard covers an area of 284,000m².
Its core activities will include shipbuilding, conversions, dry-dockings and repairs.
The facility is equipped with a 120 x 26.5m ship lift with a capacity of 5,200 tonnes and is connected to eight dry-berths, each of which is 125m long. It also features a fully enclosed blasting and painting shed and a covered construction hall. The repair space comprises a quay of 1,200m length with a water depth of up to 9m.
Up and running for some time now, DSS has the facilities to repair and construct all type of vessels and has recently delivered tugs, workboats, support vessels, dredgers, landing craft, floating docks, barges and pontoons. The yard’s current order book contains contracts for two multicats, two shoalbusters, two barges, one aluminium crew boat and ten ASD tugs.
