Newly established Goltens Philippines
According to Paul Friedberg, President, Goltens Worldwide Services, the company has been assessing the possibility of training young engineers and technicians in the Philippines for the past 24 months.
During the past five years, Goltens has established seven new global repair centres. The company sees a growing demand for specialist repair and maintenance services amongst shipowners and ship managers.Despite the maritime market slowdown, the global fleet has been on a constant increase – in all sectors – since the beginning of this century and is expected to continue for a few more years due to the size of the current orderbook in the Asian shipyards.
Vessels with two-stroke engines have increased by some 80% from 11,000 vessels in 2000 to about 19,000 in 2010. Large offshore vessels have increased by a dramatic 400% over the same ten-year period and now equal 2400 vessels.
Established as a representative office for Goltens Singapore (GSPL), Goltens Philippines will service local customers on behalf of GSPL, represent the Goltens Group, and boost sales in the region.
Goltens recently signed a recruitment agreement with ‘OSM People’ in the Philippines whereby OSM will act as its exclusive recruitment partner for Philippine labour for the entire group.
