Turkish yard Med Marine has signed a contract with Abu Dhabi Ports to build a tug of 60 tonnes bollard pull. It will be of the yard’s MED-A2360 series and will be used in the United Arab Emirates Khalifa port.
The vessel is a Ramparts 2300-MM/60-TBP tug, designed by Robert Allan Ltd. It will measure 23.0m long and 10.9m wide. With two 1765-kW Caterpillar CAT 3512 main engines, MED-A2360 type tug reaches a speed of approx. 12 knots. Delivery is scheduled for November 2019.
In August this year, a sister tug was delivered to Guatemala for operation in the port of Puerto Quetzal. Med Marine has built six tugs of the same design.
