MAN to develop low-pressure, two-stroke gas engine
MAN Energy Solutions is to fill what it sees as a gap in its engine porfolio with the development of a low-pressure gas engine to supplement its existing dual-fuel ME-GI range. Rather like the introduction of the ME-LGIP engine last year, when LPG was introduced as another liquid fuel that could be used, MAN sees the latest engine development as a response to market demand.
“We already offer the most sophisticated and technologically advanced gas engine on the two-stroke market with our ME-GI type, and we are hungry for more,” declared Bjarne Foldager, senior vice president, head of Two-Stroke Business. “With this announcement, we expect to cater for the segment in the market that prioritises low-pressure dual-fuel, and this will complement our comprehensive portfolio of solutions.”
Development of the new engine is expected to be completed during the first half of 2022.
