Legacy of the Fjords delivery to be delayed

Extra time is needed for battery-loading infrastructure to be made ready within the Oslo harbour area, the company said in a press release.
“It is naturally disappointing to have to delay this launch,” said Vidar Hauståker who is acting CEO at The Fjords following the surprise resignation of Rolf Sandvik in January. “But at the same time, it is vitally important to have everything in place for this environmentally friendly, energy efficient and breath-taking new craft.”
The Fjords, jointly owned by tourist body Flåm AS and Fjord1, a Norwegian ferry operator, is supported by state-run organisations Enova and the NOx Fund. The Legacy of the Fjords will feature a battery system supplied by Westcon, a diversified family-owned shipbuilder, power and automation specialist.

The 400-passenger all-electric catamaran Legacy of the Fjords, originally due for delivery in July this year, will not now be delivered from Norwegian shipbuilder Brødrene Aa until May 1st 2020.
