It will be based on a design from Salt Ship Design in Norway. It will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2018 and will measure 83m of length overall, 19.4m of breadth and 5m of draught. It will have diesel-electric propulsion and DP2 dynamic positioning. The vessel will be chartered by Denmark’s DONG Energy Wind Power A/S and will operate on four wind farms off the German coast. The ship has an accommodation capacity of a minimum of 60 technicians in addition to the crew, offering comfort including individual cabins, gym and cinema. In good weather, the technicians will be safely transferred to the wind turbines via a specially designed transfer craft, with a dynamic motion compensated gangway allowing for a fast and secure transfer of personnel in heavy seas. Innovations which help limit envirionmental impact and reduce operating costs include a diesel-electric propulsion system.
