Launching and christening of SWATH@A&R patrol boat

The new patrol boat is 25,71m long, 13m wide and has a draught of 2,7m

The second SWATH@A&R patrol boat for the Latvian Navy of a series of five was recently launched at Abeking & Rasmussen Shipyard in Lemwerder, Germany.

Named “Cēsis”, the compact vessel with small machinery and low fuel consumption is said to offer high availability at low life-cycle costs.
The experience with the first vessel of this class has shown that a crew of up to eight people can stay for one week at sea even under adverse weather conditions.
All five new vessels feature a modular mission bay at the fore ship. By fitting appropriate mission payloads, such as a diving module or a MCM module, the capabilities of the vessels can be enhanced flexibly.
The first of this five-unit series, the “Skrunda”, was already commissioned into the Latvian Navy in April this year. The ships are built and delivered in cooperation with Riga Shipyard.
