Singapore yard Keppel Offshore & Marine has clinched contracts worth a total of S$200 million (US$146.4 million). The orders were placed with its subsidiary yards Keppel AmFELS and Keppel Shipyard.

In the United States, Keppel AmFELS will build a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for customer Manson Construction Co. The TSHD, to be named Frederick Paup after Manson’s chairman of the board, will be the first dredger built at Keppel AmFELS’ yard in Brownsville in Texas and is said to be the largest U.S hopper dredger. It will have a hopper capacity of about 15,000cu.m and will operate primarily in the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast of the United States. The 128m-long and 25m-wide vessel will be highly automated with a diesel-electric power system.

In Singapore, Keppel Shipyard is undertaking the conversion of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier to a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) bound for the port of Acajutla in El Salvador. The order was placed by FSRU Development Pte Ltd, a joint venture company between BW Gas Limited and Invenergy Investment Company. The FSRU will be deployed at El Salvador’s first integrated LNG-to-power project.
