Croation shipyard Brodosplit has delivered its newly built polar expedition cruise vessel, Hondius, to Dutch Arctic cruise company Oceanwide Expeditions.

As first vessel, the 107.6m-long and 17.6m-wide Hondius is built under LR PC6 class, meeting the latest and highest demands of Lloyd‘s Register for Polar Class 6. Its propulsion system consists of two 2,130-kW medium-speed main engines and one adjustable pitch propeller. It can host 196 passengers accommodated in 85 cabins, and 70 crew members.

After the handover, Brodosplit and Oceanwide signed a contract for a sister vessel which is scheduled to be delivered in autumn 2021.
