Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) has held celebrations to mark the recent delivery of two alternative-fuelled tankers.

The subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation handed over the 157,300dwt LNG dual-fuelled Suezmax tanker, Greenway, to Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte, Ltd. Within a few days, the 49,990 dwt methanol-fuelled tanker, Stena Pro Marine, was delivered to Proman Stena Bulk, a joint venture between Sweden’s Stena Bulk AB and Switzerland-based methanol producer, Proman.

GSI vice president, William Zhou, commented: “I would like to pay tribute to all our team and suppliers here at GSI who have worked so hard with our clients Eastern Pacific and Stena Proman to deliver these magnificent groundbreaking vessels.”

GSI has a strong track record in the construction of dual-fuelled ships, with 32 vessels either delivered or under construction. They include two LNG-fuelled RoPax ferries, two Suezmax tankers, 14 LR2 tankers, eight vehicle carriers, and six methanol-fuelled MR tankers. More projects are currently under discussion, the shipyard said.
