US operation of Australia based shipyard, Austal, celebrated the start of work on its Modular Manufacturing Facility (MMF)in Mobile, Alabama. The state-of-the-art facility will be capable of constructing six large aluminium vessels such as the Navy´s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and/or Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV) per year. The site will include 65,000 sqm of manufacturing space, 7,400 sqm of warehouse space and 5,600 sqm of office space.
