German LNG cargo-handling system for US bunker barge
TGE Marine Gas Engineering GmbH has won a contract to design and supply a cargo handling system for a 12,000m3 bunker barge to be built by Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in the United States. The system will comprise two 6,000m3 bilobe Type C tanks providing fuel for ship-to-ship transfers.
The barge will be the largest such unit ever built in the country and will be deployed on a long-tern charter to Shell NA LNG. It will operate along the US East Coast from 2024.
TGE Marine noted in a statement that the worldwide orderbook of LNG-fuelled vessels amounts to 30% of ships on order. The company specialises in small-scale LNG carriers, bunker vessels, FSRUs and fuel gas systems and has logged more than 250 projects for shipowners and shipyards.
