FSG names new CEO and delivers well intervention vessel

FSG has delivered the well intervention vessel Siem Helix 1

German shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has announced the appointment of a new CEO, Rüdiger Fuchs, effective July 1st.

It said Fuchs, who has "wide experience" from various transportation industries (aerospace and defence, shipbuilding and offshore supply, automotive and railway supply) would continue the course set by the Norwegian-controlled Siem Group after its takeover of FSG in the autumn of 2014.
The current CEO, Alex Gregg-Smith, will remain at company headquarters in Flensburg, Germany, for several months to ensure a smooth handover, FSG said. Before coming to FSG in February 2016, Gregg-Smith worked for the Siem Group as technical vice president in the car carrier and reefer divisions.
In another development, FSG announced the delivery of the well intervention vessel Siem Helix 1. Designed by Norway's Salt Ship Design, the vessel is the first in a series of two ordered by Siem Offshore in February 2014 and will be operated by Houston, Texas-based Helix Energy Solutions to execute subsea well intervention operations for the Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras in Brazil.
