Four new built tugs from Conrad Shipyard for Hawaian operator

Four Damen Stan 3011® tugs to be built by Conrad Shipyard (Impression: Young Brothers)

U.S. company Young Brothers Limited, which operates around Hawaii, has signed a contract with U.S. shipbuilder Conrad Shipyard to construct four tugs.

The order is worth about US$80 million. The first tug will be delivered in the first quarter of 2018 and the fourth by the first quarter of 2019. The four new tugs will constitute the core of the company’s towing capacity for their 35-year life expectancy. Young Brothers worked in conjunction with its parent company, Foss Maritime, and the naval architects in Foss’ Technical Services Department on vessel concepts. The vessels, designed by Dutch group Damen, will be powered by General Electric 8L250MDC exhaust gas recirculation engines, which will be EPA Tier IV emissions compliant.
