First contract with offshore vessel operator HST Marine

Four CTVs of type SC27 will be delivered to HST Marine (Source: Strategic Marine)

British offshore vessel owner HST Marine has awarded a contract to Singapore-based shipyard Strategic Marine to construct four hybrid-powered CTVs (crew transfer vessels). The order of the new customer includes two options for repeat vessels.

The inaugural order for the type SC27 CTVs will see the first four vessels being delivered in the first and second quarters of 2023. If the options for two additional vessels are exercised, the additional pair will be delivered in third quarter 2023.

The StratCat 27 was designed by British marine architects BMT. Strategic Marine’s build-to-stock programme gives it an advantage in meeting tight delivery schedules amid global supply chain challenges. A maximum speed of 26 knots enables operators to offer rapid transport services. Accommodation and bridge deck layout have been refined with feedback from vessel operators and customers.

HST Marine was acquired by low-carbon maritime energy transportation and infrastructure systems provider Purus Marine in 2022. Under its offshore wind business Purus Wind, HST Marine has been expanding its current fleet of vessels with a succession of hybrid CTV orders.
