Finland’s Työvene shipyard wins German Navy order
Designed to accommodate up to 60 people, the vessel will enable safe and efficient personnel transport and ship-to-ship transfer operations at sea

Finnish shipbuilder, Uudenkaupungin Työvene, has won a contract from the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support, for the design and construction of a personnel transfer vessel (PTV) to work in the Baltic Sea for the German Navy.
The vessel will be built to a SWATH (small waterplane area twin hull) design, which ensures good stability and sound seakeeping, particularly in heavy seas. This will prove particularly important as the vessel will be used for personnel transport and ship-to-ship transfers.
A bespoke access and transfer system will enable personnel to be transferred to large naval vessel, while the two ships are underway. The vessel will be based in Neustadt in Holstein on Germany’s Baltic coast.

The vessel is due for delivery later this year.
