Damen to extend Combi Freighter range

Damen has announced two larger designs in its Combi Freighter series. Based on the CF 5000, the CF 6000 and CF 7000 versions will have extended midship sections enabling them to carry 20% and 40% more cargo, respectively.

The vessels will have box-shaped holds with a number of grain bulkheads for different configurations. They will also have tweendecks, reinforced tanktops, container fittings, and comply with IMO Type 1 rules for dangerous goods. The new designs are also fully aligned with EU MRV, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, and other IMO regulatory frameworks.

The CF series is compatible with B100 biofuel and ships have a hybrid PTO/PTI system for peak-shaving and zero-emissions sailing for short periods. Various battery configurations are also possible as well as the option to install shore power connectivity. They are also ready for wind-assisted ventofoils from Econowind and will come with Damen’s own centralised IoT system, Triton, to use data from thousands of sensors as the basis for optimising performance in real time.
