Similar to its sister ships, the 690-passenger (based on double occupancy), 61,800-gt ship will feature a host of amenities and innovative designs, Crystal said in a statement (Source: Crystal Cruises)

Florida-based Crystal Cruises has exercised an option for a second ‘state-of-the-art’ cruise ship at Italy’s Fincantieri. The cruise line announced the first vessel contract, with the option that has now been declared, on June 27th.

The value of the contract was not given but is considered as ‘large’. The Trieste-based shipbuilder revealed that this term is applied to shipbuilding contracts with a value of between EUR 500 million and EUR 1 billion.

The vessel, with a gross tonnage of 61,800 tons, will have accommodation for about 690 passengers. Renowned international architectural firms will oversee the ship’s interior spaces which will be developed using the finest materials and the best craftmanship, a Fincantieri statement said.

The all-suite accommodation, with private verandas, will include a single occupancy category designed for passengers travelling alone. The vessel will also have one of the highest crew-to-passenger ratios in this segment.

Fincantieri aims to develop innovative vessels that are environmentally sustainable and meet evolving market demands, the shipbuilder said. The Group’s focus on next-generation fuel technologies, such as LNG and hydrogen, couple with its commitment to customer-centric design, reinforces its leading position in the cruise market, it added.
