Construction of fast patrol vessels for the Indian Coast Guard

The 50 metre long vessels, which are currently under construction, will reach speeds of 33 knots and will operate in Indian coastal waters and around island territories.
Their roles will include coastal patrolling, anti-smuggling missions, fisheries protection, as well as search and rescue duties. Especially for operating in shallow waters and a high manoeuvrability the units will be equipped with water jets. The power systems company Rolls-Royce announced that it will supply 60 water jets (three per vessel) of type Kamewa 71S3np. The contract will involve delivery of associated equipment, i.e. a joystick control system to enhance the manoeuvring capabilities.

20 fast patrol vessels are currently being built for the Indian Coast Guard at India's Cochin Shipyard.
