Christening and preliminary agreement

Naming ceremony

Finnish shipping company Containerships has placed an initial order for two more LNG-powered containerships of about 1,400 TEU with China’s CSSC Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard.

The new order was announced by Containerships during the naming of its third and fourth LNG-powered vessels at Wenchong, Containerships Finn and Containerships Balt. Containerships said it has now signed a preliminary agreement for the fifth and sixth LNG-fuelled container vessels. Containerships said the contract was signed in the summer this year, but further details were not disclosed. Containerships, recently acquired by French shipping group CMA CGM, placed the original order for four dual-fuel engine ships with the yard in February 2017 and also took options for four additional ships.
