Chinese yard AFAI Southern Shipyard has an order for two hybrid catamaran crew transfer vessels (CTV) for Danish offshore operator MHO-Co. Construction has already started.

The vessels have been designed by the shipping company in cooperation with Incat Crowther. The 34.3m-long and 11m-wide vessels have a hybrid electric propulsion. The CTVs are fitted with two Volvo Penta D13 main engines and will reach a speed of 25 knots.

In the summer of 2021, MHO-Co expects to launch the two specially designed catamarans on contract with Ørsted. They are scheduled to transport technicians and equipment to the British offshore wind farm Hornsea Project 2 in the North Sea.
