A commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) under construction at Ulstein Verft in Norway has been launched for owner, BS Offshore, part of the Hamburg-headquartered Bernhard Schulte Group. The ship’s launch followed outfitting that included electrical and mechanical systems, the installation of accommodation units, and system integration.

Yard no. 320 was towed from the shipyard’s enclosed dock hall to the outer dock where an Ampelmann tower and gangway were installed. The vessel has now been launched into the sea and will lie alongside while further works are completed before sea trials later this year.

The diesel-electric CSOV has a number of significant features including a Twin-X-Stern, a 3D-compensated crane and a walk-to-work gangway. The vessel, equipped with a substantial battery pack, is ‘ready’ to use methanol as fuel in the future.

The CSOV is due for delivery in the second quarter of this year and will accommodate up to 132 crew and clients in modern, high-comfort accommodation.
