AIDA has ordered another LNG-powered cruise vessel

Carnival Corporation’s German subsidiary, AIDA Cruises, has ordered a third LNG-powered cruise vessel in from Meyer Werft. The 180,000gt vessel will have 2,700 cabins and is due for delivery in 2023.

This contract means we’re already building our tenth ship for AIDA in Papenburg, highlighting the long-term partnership between the Carnival Corporation and Meyer Werft,” said Tim Meyer, managing director of the German shipbuilding group. “The three ships in the Helios range will be fitted with state-of-the-art technology to make them sustainable and energy-efficient.”
The engine room modules for all three ships will be supplied by Neptun Werft in Rostock. These modules will contain the entire engine room for each ship, LNG tanks and all machinery systems and installations.
With this latest contract, Meyer Werft now has 14 vessels in its orderbook.
