Rotterdam-based Acta Marine has now commissioned its latest walk-to-work DP2 construction service operation vessel (CSOV), Acta Hercules, built by Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard. The vessel, number two in a series of four, is designed for deployment in the offshore renewables sector supporting wind farm construction and maintenance.
The vessel will enter into a five-year charter with Vestas, a Danish wind turbine component manufacturer. Its first assignment will be supporting development of the Hollandse Kust West wind farm for Ecowende, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, a Dutch energy company.
The Acta Hercules has methanol dual-fuel engines and accommodation for up to 135 personnel. It is equipped with advanced offshore access systems and walk-to-work technology for the safe transfer of personnel.
Acta Marine CEO, Rob Boer, commented: “The delivery of Acta Hercules, combined with a long-term charter commitment from Vestas, underlines both the strength of our fleet and the confidence of our clients in our organisation and services. With this vessel, we continue to build on the foundation laid with Acta Pegasus and further strengthen our position in the offshore wind market.”
