Netherlands-based Acta Marine has named its third walk-to-work construction support vessel, Acta Centaurus¸ an Ulstein SX195 design with SMST 3D-compensated gangway, a six-tonne compensated crane and the Norwegian builder’s distinctive X-Bow and X-Stern. These two features improve seakeeping characteristics, increase operational flexibility and uptime, raise safety levels and improve crew comfort.
Following the naming ceremony in Den Helder, the vessel completed preparations for its charter with MHI Vestas Offshore Wind when it will support the installation and commissioning of 33 MHI Vestas turbines at the Deutsche Bucht wind farm in the German Exclusive Zone.
The Acta Centaurus, with capacity for 120 persons, is a sister vessel to the Acta Auriga which has worked continuously on the BARD1 offshore wind farm since its delivery in 2018. The latest addition to the Acta Marine fleet has a hybrid battery package to reduce fuel consumption and cut emissions.
