Marlink has launched Xchange NextGen what it calls a single platform that combines connectivity, network management, cyber security, cloud services, and industrial internet of things.

Purpose-designed and built for the shipping industry, is intended to reduce capital expenditure and eliminate fragmented infrastructure on board ships and offshore assets. Marlink claims that by consolidating a series of functions into a single secure platform, companies will benefit from a smaller hardware footprint, simplified operations, stronger compliance readiness, and a lower total cost of ownership.

The system is said to enable secure, managed network environments across vessels and fleets through its flexible edge could structure. The platform also facilitates secure, policy-managed crew connectivity, enhancing seafarer wellbeing with management control over data allocation, access policies and digital governance.

Marlink’s President Maritime, Tore Morten Olsen, commented: “As fleets accelerate digital transformation, they need platforms that are built for control and scalability, not constraint. XChange NextGen gives ship operators the freedom to design their own digital environment on a secure, unified foundation. It reduces complexity, lowers hardware dependency, and ensures their platform evolves as their operational and regulatory requirements change.”
