Marine and energy services company, Goltens, and Greener Process Systems (GPS), a US-based carbon capture specialist, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on developing carbon capture systems (CCS) for ports and industrial power applications.
GPS already has a patented modular system designed to capture maritime and industrial emissions. The company claims that its capture technology, SETH®, cuts air pollution to near zero from ships during port calls. Its standardised system does not require retrofitting or costly modifications either to port infrastructure or to ships themselves, GPS said.
The combination of Goltens’ expertise in marine engineering, engines and retrofits aligns with GPS’ patented technology. The partners are set to provide systems that reduce emissions in ports and power plants enabling them to meet tightening environmental regulations.
“This move towards a strategic partnership underscores our combined commitment to environmental sustainability,” declared Goltens’ COO, Roy Strand.
GPS chief executive, Matt Sweetwood, said: “Pollution mitigation is one of core necessities of our time and we look forward to cooperating with Goltens to drive more sustainable operations for our customers. Our combined expertise will be a strong force in the market creating new opportunities to lower the emissions footprint of key industries globally.”
