Second CSOV delivered to Windward Offshore

Hamburg-based Windward Offshore has taken delivery of a second commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV), named Windward Paris. With its hull built at Vard in Romania and fitted out at Vard Brattvaag in Norway, the vessel will enter a charter to support the development of a new offshore wind farm in the German Bight.

The company’s second CSOV joins the first vessel in the four-ship series, Windward Athens, which is deployed on an operations and maintenance (O&M) contract. The Windward Paris, based on the Vard 4 19 design with a length of 87.5m and a beam of 19.5m, has accommodation for up to 120 persons.  

The ship has a height-adjustable motion-compensated gangway with elevator system, a height-adjustable boat-landing system, and a battery hybrid system ready for future operation on green methanol. The vessel also has an electric motion-compensated crane capable of accurate lifts even in challenging sea conditions.

The company’s general manager, Caspar Blum, commented: “With Windward Paris joining the fleet, we are adding immediate capacity and flexibility for our offshore wind customers. The vessel is designed around safe personnel transfer, efficient offshore workflows and reduced environmental footprint. This delivery is another concrete step in building a modern service platform that can support projects reliably from commissioning through to long-term operations.”

Windward Munich and Windward Hamburg are currently under construction at Vard in Vietnam prior to outfitting in Norway.
