Bernard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) is to assume responsibility for the technical management of its first floating storage regasification unit (FSRU). The 170,000-m3 Turquoise P, owned by Pardus Energy Ltd, was built by Hyundai and delivered in 2019. It will now be managed by Schulte Group’s ship management subsidiary, Pronav.
The 294m-long vessel is stationed at the Etki Liman LNG terminal in the Aegean Sea, near Izmir and is an essential source of energy for consumers in Turkey. The management arrangement is unusual because very few of the 50-odd FSRUs in operation around the world are managed by third parties.
However, Pronav has over 25 years of experience managing different types of LNG carriers including conventional steamers with both Moss-type and membrane tanks, dual-fuel high-pressure, direct injection MEGI-powered and X-DF types, and carriers with slow-speed diesels and reliquefaction equipment on board.
Pronav managing director, Martin Roolvink, emphasised the demand requirements of managing assets in the specialised LNG sector. “This is a milestone for Pronav and the entire Schulte Group,” he declared. “We are proud that our many years of expertise in ship management of LNG carriers and our flawless safety record have enabled us to take on the technical management of Turquoise P.”
