Offshore energy support vessels launched by Seacat Services
The 27m-long newly built Seacat Enterprise and the upgraded Seacat Courageous, 26m long, have capacity for 24 industrial personnel, taking advantage of the new code which will allow vessels of up to 500 tonnes to carry up to 60 industrial personnel. The vessels are dual-classified under both the HS-OSC code and the Workboat code, enabling then to carry up to twelve passengers and twelve industrial personnel.
The new code has been introduced as projects in the offshore energy sector move to new construction sites in deeper waters further from shore, requiring an increase both in vessel size and personnel capacity. The new craft will therefore enhance the versatility of the 14-boat Seacat Services fleet.
The high-speed utility vessel Seacat Enterprise is the result of a long-term R&D programme between Seacat, South Boats IoW, and Alicat Marine Design. It can carry up to four 20-ft containers and has capacity to carry more fuel for greater endurance. The Seacat Courageous, originally built to a modular design in 2015 as a twelve-seater, has been refitted and upgraded to carry 24 personnel. The vessel has a 26,000-litre fuel tank and capacity for two 20ft containers on its foredeck.
