Nordic Yards delivers offshore power converter

At the Warnemünde site the entire power converter station BorWin beta is to be built and fitted with electrical equipment on behalf of Siemens Energy, before being towed into the North Sea and installed.The project BorWin2 was awarded to the consortium between the Italian Prysmian Powerlink and Siemens Energy. Within the project, BorWin beta is the power converter platform that will transfer the energy generated by the two offshore wind farms Veja Mate and Global Tech 1 to the mainland.

From the autumn of 2010 on, Nordic Yards will start making plans for the construction of the BorWin beta transformer platform together with the contracting party. The production work is to start in Warnemünde in the spring of 2011. Nordic Yards is also expected to take responsibility for the installation of the platform in the North Sea, before it is – according to current plans – put into test service at the end of 2012.
