Major North Sea DP contract with Statoil

AET, an international owner and operator of a fleet of 82 petroleum tankers, has agreed to enter into a long-term contract with Norwegian energy giant Statoil ASA to operate two specialised DP2-type shuttle tankers through a joint venture company.

AET Sea Shuttle AS will be formed between AET and OSM Group, a provider of offshore and ship management services.
Built at a shipyard in South Korea, the two twin-skeg 120,000 dwt vessels will serve oilfields in the Norwegian sector of the North/Barents seas on a long-term contract.
They will be fully capable of operating in a harsh weather environment and will be equipped with high-power thrusters and engines. An option exists for the vessels to be constructed with LNG dual-fuel powered engines.
