Finland’s Vaisala acquires UK’s Nevis Technology
The acquisition will strengthen Vaisala’s business as a weather systems and intelligence consultancy, enabling safer and more efficient installations, crew transfer operations, and maintenance of offshore facilities while also boosting uptime. The new setup will specifically underpin its position as a weather advisor in offshore wind, in line with the company’s aim of expanding in the energy transition process.
Aberdeen-based Nevis Technology specialises in providing and maintaining helideck and environmental monitoring systems and data portals in the offshore energy industry. It focuses, in particular, on systems for offshore platforms and vessels. The company achieved net sales of GBP 1.5 million in 2023 and its 14-strong team will now join the Vaisala workforce.
Alexis Crama, Vaisala’s vice president for Renewable Energy Business in Weather and Environment, commented: “This acquisition completes our helideck and metocean monitoring solutions with a market-leading software for the offshore energy industry. It enables us to offer our offshore customers a comprehensive solution combining sensor data and systems with integrated weather forecasting.
“Moreover, Nevis Technology has a very skilled team of professionals with extensive offshore knowledge and culture,” she added. “I am looking forward to working together with the team and warmly welcome our new colleagues to Vaisala.”
