Delivery of final AHTS completes fleet renewal

The sixth AHTS vessel, the Maersk Maker, has joined the fleet

This has involved the acquisition of ten new ships including the six M-class AHTS ships and four subsea construction vessels in the Stingray class. At the same time, MSS has disposed of 23 vessels.
The 44-ship MSS fleet now comprises 30 AHTS ships, 12 subsea construction vessels and two platform supply ships. Together, the fleet has an average age of less than ten years and reflects MSS’ involvement in areas including towing, mooring and installation; subsea construction; inspection, maintenance and repair; and light well intervention.
MSS’ chief executive officer, Steen S. Karstensen, commented: “It has been a priority for us to do our part in addressing the oversupply in the industry, as well as strengthening our asset base for project delivery. Here at the end of the renewal programme, we have a more modern and competitive fleet to meet the needs of our customers.”

The sixth and final vessel in Maersk Supply Service’s (MSS) series of anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) newbuildings, the Maersk Maker, has now been delivered by Norway’s Kleven Verft and brings to an end the company’s three-year fleet renewal programme.
