Damen’s new Offshore Support Vessel 9020 is a standard product that can be tailored to meet customers’ requirements, both at surface level and subsea. Offering a stable platform with good station-keeping characteristics, the OSV 9020 design has accommodation for up to 120 persons and can be mobilised for a variety of functions.

The vessel is designed to operate in dynamic positioning mode, with four identical azimuthing thrusters, arranged symmetrically, two at the bow and two at the stern. Although this set-up is designed primarily for efficient station-keeping, Damen claims that the vessel design also demonstrates good transit performance and low fuel consumption.

The vessel can be fitted with a moonpool-deployed saturation dive system, a stern A-frame and an offshore access system, the company explained. If deployed as a submarine rescue vessel, the appropriate equipment is placed on deck and the vessel’s accommodation, manoeuvring and dive support systems are essential features. The design incorporates a helipad, providing even more operational flexibility, Damen said.
