Copenhagen-based offshore wind developer, Cadeler, has won a contract with Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) in Taiwan for the transport and installation of 35 Siemens Gamesa 14-MW wind turbines at the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm.
Cadeler will deploy one of its M-class wind turbine installation vessels on the project which is scheduled to start in March 2028 and last for about 150 days. The value of the deal is expected to be between EUR 70 and 80 million.
The wind farm lies 18 to 20km off the coast of Miaoli County and will span an area of 58km. The turbines will be installed in water depths ranging from 57m to 64m and will ultimately generate 495 MW of energy.
Cadeler CEO, Mikkel Gleerup, said: “This milestone project further anchors Cadeler’s strategic presence in the Asia-Pacific region. With the support of our team based in Taipei, we are steadily building up our APAC presence and pipeline, with two vessels currently operating contracts in the region. With an M-class vessel, we are bringing best-in-class technology to Taiwan’s shores, building a bridge between continents and the infrastructure for a cleaner tomorrow.”
Cadeler is still negotiating the details of a second offshore wind project in the region with SRE as part of a ‘reservation agreement’ between the two companies dating from September 2024.
