Bureau Veritas launches Asian offshore energy centre

Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) has launched its Offshore Center of Excellence in Asia Pacific in support of the sustainable development of offshore energy projects. The hub will provide a single source of expertise to support assets across sectors including oil and gas, offshore wind, and other emerging energy sectors.

The assets include FPSOs, FSOs, FSRUs, FLNGs, floating wind turbines, and drilling units. Recent projects of note include the classification of CNOOC’s Kaiping FPSO, the largest cylindrical FPSO in Asia Pacific, Alam Guyub FLNG, the first FLNG project in Indonesia, and Oceanstar’s first FPSO in Malaysia, Sepat.

The new facility will provide services including classification, certification, verification and advisory services including regulatory compliance support, hydrodynamic and structural analyses, safety studies, new technology qualification, sustainability advisory and cyber security services.
