Boskalis launches ROVs from new Aberdeen facility

Netherlands-based Boskalis has deployed remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) from a new facility in Aberdeen. The Remote Operations Center (ROC) in Aberdeen and the development of ROVs has involved an investment of GBP 40 million.

The ROC will provide a hub for fleet operations and allow subsea operations to be controlled and supported from shore. The new facility will provide a centre for fleet operations support from shore for offshore crews while driving efficiency and enhancing safety.

ROVs have already undergone a week of intensive trials in the North Sea, launched and controlled from the company’s offshore construction support vessel, BOKA Northern Ocean. The process has validated the integrity of remote operations and the company plans to extend operations at the ROC with additional remote survey and inspection services.
