Port of Auckland reorganization

Fergusson container terminal

In the past container ships' berthing was split between Fergusson and Bledisloe container terminals which are run semi-independently. From now on the majority of container ships in the port of Auckland will be berthed at Fergusson terminal. All port's stevedoring staff wil be based there. Ports of Auckland expanded and reconfigured its Fergusson truck processing infrastructure to cater for the additional traffic. The proportion of container cargo handled at Fergusson will rise from current 71 % to around 96 %, as Port of Auckland estimates.

As of 6 July container operations of the New Zealand Ports of Auckland have been based in the recently expanded Fergusson container terminal.
